Our Earth’s Natural Touch: Birth Care and Beyond, Certified Lactation Counselors® (CLC®) are professionals in lactation counseling who have demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to provide clinical breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are exploring the option of breastfeeding, or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation.
Our CLCs are dedicated to the promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding and human lactation in the work we do to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems. We understand that breastfeeding works best when it is the cultural norm and when the provider of lactation support and services is culturally aware and aligned.
Our CLCs work within a counseling model, understanding that breastfeeding decisions are made by the parents, who may have values and goals that may be different from the counselor. Our CLCs work as part of the health care team, and work to provide appropriate referrals and recommendations.
All of our CLCs have met the competency standards in the field of lactation counseling from The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP), have passed the CLC comprehensive exam, and comply with the CLC Program requirements including ethical standards for ALPP CLCs.

No matter where you are in the world, or where you are in your breastfeeding journey, join us for our weekly Mocha Milkshake Café, a Virtual Breastfeeding Support Group. This is a safe, supportive space to learn, share, and decompress with other parents, and birth and lactation professionals about breastfeeding.

As members of the New Haven Breastfeeding Taskforce, we we had the the opportunity to identify and work with Union Station to create a space for nursing families by contributing to design ideas and providing considerations for practicality.
